I keep reading about people here ordering custom systems, including 14" T61p's and getting their computers a few days later.

Well... I ordered a 14" T61p on the 27th of February. It's now the 7th of March, and still nothing. Website status still says "In Process". Even my CSR who took my order said he couldn't get any more information regarding an accurate ship date.

Is there something I can do or say to at least find out what the hold up is? I'm scheduled to leave the country for business on the 28th of March. Lenovo's quote on delivery is 24 March. My CSR did say that the systems usually ship in a much quicker time than what's quoted, but I've already been waiting longer for my laptop than most people here have.

    Suggestions?

I'm trying to be patient. Only problem is, if it does happen to arrive the week of the 24th as quoted, that doesn't leave me much time to make sure all my mission critical apps work. That also cuts down my testing time to ensure the laptop isn't going to die on me in the field.

I'm just stumped as to how most folks here can order a custom laptop, and have it in 3 to 5 days, and I'm still sitting here wondering if my laptop is even being built?

Like wuzertheloser said just be patient for now. I am sure you will get your laptop before your trip. It has barely been a week so give them some time. It takes a little bit of time to ship them from China. lol

    Amstel,

Go to the order tracking site of IBM instead of Lenovo. They will show actual shipment 1-2 days earlier than the Lenovo site shows it. :)

Also, with all the talk of bad motherboards, bad memory, BSOD's, etc., would you rather have a small delay but a working computer? I would.

I guess you just got to wait. Some people are getting lucky and getting their's shipped in a few days, however other people got large delays. So its not like everyone is getting their's in 2 days.

I ordered t61p 15.4" on Feb 13th and still nothing has shipped. I have ordered many accessories including webcam, ac/dc adapter, additional battery and travel mouse.

My laptop is ready but the mouse is out of stock and hence all the shipment is on hold(for last 10-12 days), it took numerous calls to CSR and account manager and finally they said they have split my order and should receive my laptop soon.

did you order any accessories? especially travel mouse?

Yup this is a better place to check. On Lenovo direct my order shows "In process" just like right after I placed the order, while on the IBM tracking shows as shipped with a link to UPS tracking.
R61 15.4": ordered noon EST 3/3; UPS received billing info 3/8 (they don't actually have the package yet) it's Saturday so I am not really expecting it to start moving until Monday.
You're right, Lenovo have the weirdest way of dealing with out of stock / back ordered accessories. Along with my order, I got a screen that showed 4 weeks or more for availability. All thru order process notebook showed that it would ship in 2 weeks. After I placed the order I check my online status and see that they pushed everything 2 months (till MAY) ... so I call after a few days (I gave it a few days to see if it will move along by itself). First CS said that I chose when ordering to have everything wait until they can ship all together ... there is NO such option when ordering !!! so he said he fixed it and now each ships when available. I didn't really trust what he did, so I call again and get a different CS who said it doesn't really matter what option is placed on the order, there is no way for him to determine when anything will ship ... at that point I asked him to cancel the order (after he suggested it to me), because I couldn't get a straight answer, and I replaced the order for the notebook alone! I hope that I won't be surprised in May when my first order ships :p seeing as how quite a few are getting their orders shipped even after they cancel!

I seriously hope this is the last time I have to deal with Lenovo's CS ... not a pleasant experience!

Thanks for the replies. I tried the IBM site; still shows the same thing as the Lenovo site does. I guess I'll just have to be patient and hope for the best.

As for my location; I'm in New York. I did notice however that my CSR is located in Canada.

The only accessory I purchased was an ultrabay battery.

this thing could delay your order, as it's not a "common" accessory.
