That looks like a great machine to me.. One thing I would HIGHLY suggest is that you get the computer with the minimum amount of RAM and upgrade from there. Buy your RAM at newegg and upgrade that way (its very easy with the thinkpad T61). You will save hundreds doing that.

Also what kind of games are you going to want to play? If you are just playing some lower quality games, integrated graphics might be best since it will really help improve your batter usage over the 140M.

well, i used to play quake etc years ago.. but stopped because my new laptop did not support CS, splinter cell etc.. but i would love to start playing those...

also, the difference between 1gig and 3gig of ram is about 300bucks.. i dont mind paying it if its saving me the headache :)

Check the sticky. You can get 4 GB of ram from newegg.com for 200, and sell the 1 GB stick on ebay. It is not much of a headache to replace ram, but if it is worth it to you then I digress.

Truthfully, I like having the extra horses under the hood. I tend to max out components that are not easily upgradeable after the fact. Practically, I use Origin for rendering and evaluating 3D contour plots, ChemOffice for Molecular Modeling (protein), AutoCAD 3D for microfluidic device design, and Adobe Premiere for data collection and analysis, to name a few applications, quite extensively in my work. I am a chemist currently finishing up my Ph.D. and having ISV certification, openGL, and other features afforded by the 570M are well worth the loss of battery life and extra coin for me. I might add that even though I have this card I have been averaging about 4 hours during my general use with the 9 cell at ~50% brightness.

Frys is good if you are buying 2x1GB, but they do not have 2gb on one sodimm. To each his own though.
