    Hello

I am stuck between E520, L520 and Z570. I surf, email, edit raw files + very basic video editing. I do not play games.

The L520 is approx 20% more expensive than the other two. As far as I can tell the advantages are matt display, docking options, more battery run time and also better build quality? It seems like the L520 is built to last longer.

I have heard that Z570 has better build quality than the previous Z560, can anyone confirm?

    Kind regards
    Lars

If you get the L520, be sure to get the 1600x900 HD+ display upgrade. It gives you more screen area to work with by making items on the screen smaller, and is very handy when it comes to video editing (even light video editing).. not to mention the extra screen space is nice to have in general when it comes to multitasking.

The L520 is a bit closer to a "real" thinkpad than the Thinkpad Edge and Ideapad Z.

I just got an L520 with the 1600x900 display, and the display is quite nice (at least to my untrained eye). Very vibrant, and yeah, the extra space should come in handy (although I have to say, I imagined things being smaller on it than they are. The L520's build quality seems extremely good -- metal hinges, and when I rest my wrists you can just feel that it's a very solid piece of machinery.

The battery runtime seems phenomenal, but part of that is because I opted for the 9cell battery as opposed to the 6.

I have no experience with the E or Z, so I am of no use there. Sorry!

    Thanks guys

    Price difference in Sweden:
    L520: Core i5 2410M 2.3 GHz, 4GB RAM, 1600x900.
    E520: Same as L520 but with a WXGA display = -$300 US
Z570: Same as E520 but with 6GB RAM and Nvidia Geforce GT 520M. = -$212US

    Kind regards

Wow, cant you import some cheaper model from USA making it cheaper even when paying your local VAT+shipping fees?
300$ difference between E520 and HD+L520 seems too much!

I think so too. That's why I am tempted to go for the Z or E. The
Z570 is really a bargain even when comparing to other brands.

Importing from USA will be a bit cheaper, but you lose the 5 year warranty and you have to pay for a Norwegian/Swedish keyboard.

Honestly, I don't think the L-series is all that much more durable than the Thinkpad Edge models. The biggest downside is the screen resolution, but if you can deal with that, I think the E520 will serve your needs just fine for a lot less money.

5 years warranty? Where do you get that?

Which model did you get in the end?
