I use the thumbstick almost exclusively as my mouse on my T60. But sometimes it will begin to drift in a certain direction and I have to take my finger off it and then it'll stop.
Is this a common problem or is there something wrong with mine?

this seems too simple, but if youre taking your finger off it to stop the drift. could it be your finger?

Perfectly normal. The issue has something to do with having your finger on the point all the time--this causes the pointer to become offset and so it has to "right itself" by moving around.
Annoying? yes.
Defect? no.
The best solution I have found is to avoid resting anything on or against the trackpoint. -

Yup. It's an automatic calibration thing. If your finger supplies consistent pressure, it'll sort of recalibrate itself temporarily to account for that. Thus, the movement.

Thanks, I was wondering this myself. I knew it was not a defect, though.
