I ordered a T61 on May 10th and it's supposed to be shipped on May 31st. I was on PC Connection last night and found ALMOST the exact specs in a T61 and at a very competitive price. Plus, I'll save the sales tax and shipping is cheaper. So, I ordered it for overnight delivery (less than $30) and it will be delivered TODAY!
I will need to call and cancel my order with Lenovo, but I'm quite surprised that they have such a high end T61 on a reseller site.
Did I mention that it's a 3 year warranty version?
I guess I did pass up a slightly faster processor (the one on PC Connection is 2.0 and I had ordered a 2.2 processor), but I'm not sure how much I'll even notice this in the real world.
For those who might be interested... here is the link.

$1633 is what I have configured out of the specs I see on that site. But it does not indicate what type of screen is supplied. Since he won't have to pay tax (assumption) it looks like an okay deal and he would be getting it 6 days earlier.
But $1829.....I think it is worth the wait for me.....but that is because I have another toy that is arriving to keep me entertained until the 5/8 arrival of my unit (hopefully) -
You've got a pretty heavy configuration. I tried to price it on Lenovo.com and came to figure $1,652 , that's without any additional discounts like epp
etc. Shipping is free at Lenovo but tax can be $100-130. So you probably paid a hundred more, but hey! you wanted it faster -
The LCD is WXGA+, which is what I ordered.
I did order the EV-DO Verizon card, but I decided I really didn't need it because I've got an expresscard that I can use instead.
I also ordered the 2007 SM version of Office, and opted for the student version through PC Connection. I'd order that one all the time because I don't use Outlook, but you can't get it through Lenovo.
My delivered price on my order was over $ 2300 and my delivered price through PC Connection is less than $ 1900. Saved more than $ 400 and I can't see where I hurt myself... except I'll be busy getting it setup over Memorial Day weekend. -
Keep in mind that Lenovo is running their special Memorial Day sale right now so their prices are really hard to beat. But I ordered with an AICPA discount and a 5% off coupon. My pricing was about equal to their current sale, but getting it from PC Connection with NO wait is worth a penny or two to me. Sorry, I'm a little impatient.
Overnight shipping from PC Connection is less than $ 30 and I ordered it last night at 8:15 p.m. CST and it's being delivered TODAY. You can't even order overnight delivery from Lenovo. -
I like this configuration better.

So are the unit from PCConnection WXGA+?
I might cancel my order and bite on this if I can get it tomorrow.....that is if you are kind enough to let me know how I can get AICPA and 5% off
-
N/M on AICPA.....found out what it stands for
-
I think you can if you buy pre-configured machines like these

But they looks like more expensive that customizable -
I've found several online stores selling the T61 for immediate delivery. However, none of them have Intel Turbo Memory (which I want just in case improved drivers fulfill the promise of better performance) and they are all T7300 processors. I prefer the T7500. I also couldn't find one with a 7200rpm drive which is a big perf boost.
I am not a patient person (and I was very tempted to buy online for more money and less machine) but I'm going to try hard to hold out for my configured T61 from Lenovo.
My input. -
Yeah, I just added the numbers and no matter how I see it, the cost difference is about $130. I was going to be impatient and get it shipped to me by tomorrow, but it appears that I will just have to wait.
-
the wait through Lenovo direct might kill many people. I just ordred another T61, and now the ship date is 8.27! are you kidding me? At this rate, Ill cancel all ordres, and dell will have finallly released their SR XPS model. For that matter, HP should have a dedicated vid card in the dv2500 soon as well
-
Wow! Mine still shows 6/7 (which I assume they'll honor.) If they change that to August, I'll definitely be purchasing one with a 7300 from an online retailer. Sure would hate to give up the 7200rpm, etc.
-
ok, apparently its a bug in the shipping system that they know about. should still be about 2 weeks out. we will see about that
-
I just tried to buy another one and the shipping date is showing as 6/6/2007. Maybe your system has some unusial piece which is not in stock or smth. You better call them
-
the 8/27 comes up after you place the order. When you submit the order it says 6/6 as you noted, but it changes.
-
So once these orders are approved, would the status "In Progress" change to something else? or stay that way until it ships?
-
Apparently is stays at "In Process" until it ships. "In Process" is a big bucket.
-
Mine says: "In process"
-
Mine says "In Process" too.
-
Oops! Finger error. I edited it.
-
I just purchased one aswell. The shipping date is 8/28!!! I sure hope this is just a glitch. Three month wait for a laptop is ridiculous.
-
That's not three months. It's August of 2028.
Tire of waiting...bought a T61 from reseller.
