    Hi,
I am planning to buy ThinkPad Z61m model. Just wanted to know which cover looks good? Is it the traditional Black or the new Titanium cover? Does the Titanium cover takes away the legendary look of Thinkpad notebooks?

    Regards,
    Sundar.

yep, the titanium does take away the legendary thinkpad look. but makes it unique in another way, pure (almost) metal look :)

the black cover looks cool though. simple and elegant.

I like the Titanium cover. Unique look and still very clean.

The titanium lid scratches easier, but feels a bit more rugged. It is also better with fingerprints.

From Lenovo's TABOOK specs, the Ti cover will add about 1/2 a pound. That's why I went with the black instead. If I EVER actually get the **** thing I can let you know what I think of it.

Also, though some may disagree, the black cover will look "cheaper" to a potential thief. I think most casual cleptos probably gravitate towards shiny objects, and if my laptop isn't shiny, it's less of a target. No matter how pretty my computer is, it's useless to me if it gets stolen.

The titanium cover is VERY nice, but it does add around half a pound. It looks a lot nicer than the black IMO though. It also doesn't really show fingerprints, where as the black does.

As for the T60 vs. Z61M...

The T60 is slightly lighter and thinner, but is typically more expensive. The T60 widescreen was definitely more $$ than my z61m when I ordered, but check the prices for yourself, as pricing may have changed.

The T60 gives up a card reader, firewire and integrated camera/mic if any of those things matter to you.
