As many of you know, I purchased the T61 for $1058 (not including fatwallet/tailormade/tax) with the Meyer EPP. At the time, the deal was awesome. Problem is that it's taking a million years for the laptop to ship...and the deal isn't as awesome anymore.

I configured a T61 with the same specs just now and it's only $1107. With the AMEX Tailormade that I neglected to take advantage of my first time around, the price will end up as $1051, even lower than with the Meyer EPP. (To be honest, the version I speced out now has only 512mb ram, not 1024 ram because they offered the 512 option later.) Granted, the July 4th sale will almost come, and if it's as great as people say, then the price for the specs I ordered will even be lower. Hell, if it's going to take as long as it is taking to ship, I might as well just take advantage of the prices now eh?

Another wild card is that the Dell D630 is of a lower price than $1107 when configured with similar specs, but that may change when the July 4th sale comes.

Last thing is, I still can take advantage of the delay freebie (likely the battery). These are too many things to consider!!!

Where did you see that "a lot" were cancelled? If anything, I've seen nothing but success for the Meyer orders, especially the most recent ones. A few people have already received their laptops purchased with the Meyer EPP.

    SHHHHHHH!!!!........beware of D630-owning trolls...............

I would stick with it...lenovo should know that they have screwed up with the pre 5.24 orders, and start shipping them out as promised 6/26).

I dont see the july4th sale being any more significant than the deal you have now or what you have reconfigured. How much more can they drop the price on a new SR machine that appears to be selling quite well.

Tailormade will be gone at the end of this month, so that is something to be considered.

Damn man, after mentioning a 630 as a possible alternative yourself, first... why'd you go there?

Anyways, my advice would be to keep your current order. Worst case scenario is you cxl and reorder and have a long wait for whatever reason, not get your freebie, then be wondering "what if" your original order would have shipped the very next day.

Let us know what you decide.

Personally, since you're still getting the run around on the shipping date, i would just cancel the order and reorder it using the discounts that you know will work for sure. Downgrading from 1gb to 512mb for the new order isnt really a big issue seeing as the price of 1gb and even 2gb 1 dim ram is dropping daily.

The father's day sale ends today (tonight), so that's what you'll really have to worry about if you're going to put in a new order. The deadline for the tailormade discount is June 30th.

Another thing you can do is just put in a new order tonight. If you receive an email stating your notebook has shipped, the you can just cancel the new order. If it doesnt ship anytime soon, just cancel it and stick with the new order.

Well but for the father's day sale you can get a price adjustment or whatever it's called and still get the battery right?

I'm calling in to adjust my price right now. I have a quote from memorial day that is going to expire within a week. I was waiting for the fathers day sale to end to see what the new deals would be, but they're nothing special. I'm more than satisfied with the $1,450 price. The same configuration on the d630 was around $1,500 and it doesn't have turbo memory.

I'm thinking the july 4th sale might be a little better than memorial day sale but they no longer offer the thinkpad AGN card and I'm not sure if that would be a cause for them not to do a price adjustment, since the bill of materials will be different and all. Am I wrong in assuming this?

I'm finding it impossible to cancel my order that I placed in mid may....I've called them twice and emailed twice as well...and it's still 'in progress' according to the status website.

Wow! This is the first time in months Lenovo didn't have a "sale." Maybe the July 4th sale starts next week....

If you wanted to do a price adjustment in the future, but used both tailormade and fatwallet for the purchase, wouldnt the price adjustment cancel the original order, thereby canceling the discounts through tailormade and fatwallet? In order to get a price adjustment through lenovo, the person will need to make a new quote on the website. They'll then use that order number for the price adjustment.

I'm asking this because people say you can always do a price adjustment in the future if a better deal comes up.

The way I was told was that they don't adjust the price until the laptop actually ships. Also, when it first ships your credit card will be charged the original amount initially. The adjusted price will be credited to your credit card account.

I'm not really sure what kind of effect this has on the fatwallet deal though.

i have enough credit on my CC that I placed a second order, and keeping the first one. I will cancel the order that ships later. My second order has 7/19 estimated shipping, placed last saturday. Last night I received an update on my original 5/17 order, and I was so excited!... until I pulled up my order and all computer parts have disappeared and my total says $0.00.

I don't know what happened there, i haven't had time to sit on the phone to call lenovo. i sent them yet another email, but i don't expect any replies since they haven't replied to any of my other ones from last week and 3 weeks ago.

If they tried to rebook my 5/17 order, they haven't sent me a new order number yet. god, how much worse can it get?

The current sale seems to be $5 better than the earlier father's day sale. I had configured 2 systems and ordered one - saved quotes for both. Reconfigured them with the same specs. And guess what - they were $5 cheaper.

I would say Lenovo still has a pretty good deal on. T61 seems to be cheaper than other Santa Rosa based Laptops.

Prices should be coming down even further across the board in the next couple of months for the Santa Rosa chipset according to the article found in this post:
