I'd like to make this T400 of mine lighter. some of the stuff it came with are no use to me, i wonder if i should take them off. here is the list.
"160GB 7200rpm HD, CDRW/DVDRW, Verizon WWAN, Modem, and Turbo Mem"
I just downloaded T400 maintenance manual, i've never took a laptop apart before, should i do it? and what do you guys think of CDRW, WWAN, and Turbo Mem if they add much weight or not.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Replace the HDD with the SSD typically saves like an ounce (but depends on the HDD and SSD). Replacing the ODD with a blank saves a bit less. The WWAN and Turbo Mem are also pretty small savings.
If you don't have them already, better mods are an LED screen, IGP mobo (and corresponding heatsinks), and 4-Cell battery. My T400 was like 4lb-something with some of those swaps. -
44C0690 may be of interest.

44c0690 the travel cover. i just found that out. will look for one.
IGP mobo swap such task would be too hard for me. but i would go for a 4cell battery and SSD.
thanks guys.
ps. i'm still curious if Modem is removable or not. -

From memory the modem is removable. You may save around 10 g.
