I have a two year old Z60t (Celeron M 1.4GHz/40GB/1GB). It works well but...
The battery (4-cell) stopped working, so I needed to buy a new. Then I also started thinking about a new HDD (120GB/7200, say) and a new CPU (e.g. Pentium M 760, that is a 2GHz/2MB model).
Then I saw a T61...
Using the laptop for word-processing (Latex, etc.), browsing web, and playing DVDs sporadically, do I NEED a completely new laptop or I just WANT it?
What about a battery life? Will it improve with the new one? If so, it will be a huge factor (I would not go for a discrete GPU but would like a WXGA+ LCD).
Thanks in advance!

I would keep your very nice Z60T and wait at least 6+ months after the next generation of T series comes out before buying one. Even though the specs are low on your Z60 it is plenty for what you need. Your Z60 is a much better built laptop than the T61....period.

It is indeed a sturdy laptop. I just didn't realize the newer Ts are worse and thought that since Lenovo had unified Z and R series, the T one remained a top-notch. -
If your Z60T has a zexy titanium cover, keep it. Its so much zexier then the current ones.

you just need the fresh touch of a new lappy. just resist the temptation

New CPU and HDD (and a solid cleaning!) should also strengthen the feeling of having a new toy!
Thank you for the support!
To upgrade the old Z60t or to purchase a new T61?
