I just had a debate with my friend about T400's touchpad. He said that T400's touchpad is as much worse than E6400's one, and generally, cannot be called a good touchpad: too small, bad sense. I wanted to argue with him no more and want to hear from you. How do you think about T400's touchpad? Is it a touchbad?

The touchpad on the T400 is better than the one on T61. Generally the touchpad on Thinkpads is a secondary device for people whom can't use the Trackpoint (try the trackpoints on HP and Dell business laptops).... some may argue this, but this is my opinion anyway.

The E6400 touchpad is in no way superior to the T400.... if you want to see what an excellent touchpad is, try the Macbook Pro touchpad, now that is an excellent touchpad.

I have used a friend's E6400. I don't think it is any better than the touchpad on my current R400 (which is almost a clone of the T400).

I have worked on Dell M2400 and M6400 laptops at work. There is no way possible that the M6400 has one close to the quality of the T61 that I have. When typing on the M6400 and M2400, it will frequently act as if you clicked the the button. What this means is that you are typing something, and then you will find your cursor has moved to another section of the screen and typing in the entirely wrong location! The only way to avoid it is to put the pointer at the top of the screen where it will not make your cursor jump to a new location or disable the trackpad all together. This was actually the reason that I have started to use a mouse at work. When I am working on my ThinkPad, I use the trackpad. I have yet to have it do the same thing with my ThinkPad. In truth, I find my ThinkPad a more satisfactory computer than the new Dells. The keyboard is a huge step up and the trackpad/trackpoint are all superior. The Dell might have the better screen, though (LED). The M6400 DOES have a bigger trackpad, but it is also a 17" laptop. Thus it has more real estate to work with.

I could not agree more, now if we could transplant the MBP touch onto the TP
I would likely use my t400 more for casual browsing

The MBP touch is so accurate and effortless when using
