So i probably did something with the touchpad connection when I opened up my laptop to check something that was wrong with the keyboard. The touchpad wouldn't work, so i called up Lenovo and they sent me a replacement keyboard and touchpad. I thought it was the touchpad itself, but I just received a replacement keyboard and touchpad and went ahead and replaced mine. It seems that the connection is dead on my T500, rather than just the touchpad part.

It's really a minor inconvenience as I use the trackpoint when typing, otherwise I use my mouse. I still occasionally used the touchpad though.

Anyway, what are my options here? Does Lenovo fix this if I should choose to send it in?

Are all the connectors from the keyboard/touchpad plugged in to the motherboard?

Is touchpad enabled when you press FN + F8 ?

Yeah those would be fairly obvious. Tried FN+F8, didn't change anything.

make sure the touchpad is option is not disabled in bios.

If it is indeed a hardware problem, then Lenovo will replace the motherboard free (the only fix), provided you are under warranty (which you are from sounds of it) and that there is no spill damage on the laptop itself.

Spill on the motherboard? I don't know. Spill on the keyboard/touchpad? I have spilled on it before, but I don't think it seeped under... I don't think keyboard/touchpad matter since I just replaced them...

as was said earlier you should seek out the warranty department to do a diagnostic on the laptop and see what happens.
