    Hello everyone,
The following fixed this problem for me. I have a T61.

    1. Download the latest drivers from Synaptics’s website, not Lenovo’s. http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
    2. Uninstall the ultranav driver and ultranav utility, and restart.
    3. Install the driver you downloaded from Synaptics.

That’s it. Horizontal scrolling now works.
Lenovo’s drivers are customized for thinkpads, replacing their driver with the one from Synaptics may result in loss of certain options and functionality. I do not need any extras like the zoom and all that. I usually use the trackpoint middle button as a mouse wheel click to open links in new tabs, and that still works. The Synaptics driver allows you to customize the trackpoint (they call it “pointing stick” ;) also, so maybe the Lenovo driver isn’t all that important.
Try it for yourself and see if it works for you. You can always uninstall Synaptics and go back to Lenovo’s driver.
