Just trying to get a sense of what people prefer. What you use/like more?

Touchpad ain't bad, but I love the trackpoint much better.

Back in the early 90's when IBM introduced the eraser head on their Thinkpad computers it was one of those ideas I just did not like. Then I talked to an IT associate who said he felt the same way until he gave it some time and decided the eraser head was an awesome idea.

It took me a while to get use to it but it became second nature for me and now I wish more laptop company's gave us the option. I like the fact that you can place your finger on the eraser head and left or right click at the same time. It's great for when you want to draw a box or outline a drawing.

That's another reason why I chose a Thinkpad.

There seriously needs to be a "both" option.

I feel that surfing the web, like purely surfing, the touchpad best simulates a mouse. however, when typing or being lazy, the touchpoint reigns supreme

trackpoint for "mouse" operations, and touchpad for scrolling and "tap zones".

It is good thing Dell Latitudes and Lenovo Thinkpads have both.

Yeah. The thing is I'm looking at the X series, which doesn't have both- just the trackpoint...

It will likely take some adjusting, but for me, all it took was maybe 5 minutes of using one at the store. Even then, it wasn't set to my speed liking exactly, but it came very natural, very quick.

Trackpoint is GOD! It's why I saved to buy a Thinkpad X60 when my X30 broke...

Trackpoint, and I loose it when I use a mouse pad on another laptop!

    i use bth acctually
but i feel much ease when it comes to touchpads but it all comes down to personal preferance more than anything else
i use the track point on ym old toshiba and touchpad on my Hp
i feel that the track point helps you be more precise and the touchpad helps you "move around" and is much more easier on the fingers too ;)

I've gotten so use to trackpoint that when I use a thinkpad with a touchpad, the touchpad actually gets in my way. Got a t60p on the way so I'm going to have to retrain myself.

I disabled touchpad on my T60.
Touchpad is annoying especially when you are editing a document; the cursor jumps somewhere you don't want, when one touches the touchpad accidentally.
