I received my new T61p a few weeks ago and it is great except for one thing, the trackpoint moving by itself. I only use the trackpoint and have the touchpad disabled. After using the trackpoint and after moving my finger away from it, the mouse pointer will sometimes start moving on its own just very slightly and briefly from where it was at rest. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen quite frequently. I am not sure what is causing it, possibly a faulty trackpoint? Does anyone else have this time problem?![]()

I have this problem too. I don't think it's a faulty trackpoint, I think it is a software "feature." Here's my observations:
If you're very careful to apply a constant pressure to the trackpoint, the pointer will move at a constant velocity, but then suddenly stop. When you relieve the pressure, the pointer will move in the opposite direction for a few seconds (this is what you're describing) until it stops again.
So this is my theory: if the software notices that the pressure on the trackpoint hasn't changed for a while, it interprets the current position as being "at rest." When you remove the pressure, suddenly the position has changed from "at rest" to a new position, so it moves backwards, until it decides that it's at rest again.
It's annoying, but I don't know any way of changing the programming. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. -
Is it possible to change the sensitivity of the tracpoint? -
Yes, in the track point settings there is a slider that allows for adjusting firm to light touch response from the trackpoint. I adjusted mine to firm to see if the problem is minimized/eliminated.
Edit: Minimizes it slightly but does not eliminate it. I have now turned off Press to Select, and hope this has a beeter result.
