Just got my y500 yesterday, everything seems to be good except it runs pretty hot when gaming, and the trackpad. Is the trackpad supposed to be clickable along the whole thing? I ask because mine seems to be to tight, and unclickable along the top of the trackpad.

Also what is a good way to see what the heat is off the gpu and cpu, because it seems to run extremely hot when gaming.

(NB I do not own a Y500 nor have I used one - however these questions are fairly generic)
Clickpads are usually hinged at the top and that makes it harder or impossible to click close to the hinge. I personally use taps instead of clicking as it makes the whole touchpad surface "clickable".
To see the CPU temperature I recommend Real Temp ( Real Temp - CPU temperature monitoring ) but remember that such a powerful machine will get hot while gaming, sadly the laws of physics gets in the way :)

That could be the case usually, but from what i've seen on the y500 it's supposed to be clickable at the top I thought. Thanks for the link, i'll use it to get an exact reading when it gets hot next time.

Also does anyone know how to get this trackpad to scroll? I can't seem to get it to do it even though I know it's supposed to be able to.

Try upgrading the drivers on the Lenovo website. That worked for me when I first got my y500. When I do games on it, it does run hot so I got a cooling pad for it and it works wonders.

temps are affected by many factors. what's your room temperature? is the laptop elevated? is it on top of a cooling pad? what games are you playing? is it the 750m sli?

you don't have to worry much when you laptop is hot. this is a gaming machine. it's normal for it to get hot when gaming. also, the palm rest is brushed aluminum that conducts heat very well. this just means some of the heat inside are dissipated.

Megoi is right. you have to monitor individual temps of your cpu and gpu, also hdd. just to make sure.

First thing I did when I got the laptop was update the drivers for the trackpad lol. No idea why I can't get it to scroll.

The whole thing isn't clickable, just the bottom.

Scrolling is only done using two fingers moving downwards/upwards together.
