My son gave me his old IBM ThinkPad 390, model 262670U. It is vintage around 2000. Works very well, however, after I got it, I re-formatted the hard drive and installed Win98SE (which is probably the max for this machine). He mentioned something about scrolling with the track point but did not remember how he set it up. I found it in the owners manual under customization. However, it states to go to control panel and click on the track point icon. Unfortunately, there is no track point icon in control panel. I think there were some add-ons on a separate disk that came with the machine but he cannot locate it. Other system disks (CDs) are there.

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions how I can get the trackpoint applet software to add to the machine so it is installed on the machine and has an icon in control panel.

I plan to primarily use the machine for reading e-mail, surfing the web while I am remote from my main computer, and monitoring my e-mail while traveling. I have successfully installed a PCMCIA card for wireless operation.
