I own a X40, i just purchased it last week and the trackpoint sometimes has a mind of its own... is there a solution to this? it gets pretty annoying

when ever my previous computers did that i just put the palm of my hand a pressed down hard and it fixed the problem or if that does not work just restart the computer... that worked for me.

how much does it wander? i seem to recall that the trackpoint will automatically center itself once in awhile which is what it's supposed to do, but i'm not sure how often this occurs (mines coming TOMORROW! whooooo!)

Hi,
I am new to thinkpad series and will be getting a x60 soon. I heard the trackpoint cover can be replaced and there is an extra in each thinkpad procurement. I am curious to find out if it is hard to buy new covers from retailers? What is the "name" of the cover (red)?
Thanks. -
If you want more covers, order the trackpoint package with your X60. They're less than $10 for a package containing a variety of different cover types.
Also... I suggest ordering an extra AC adapter at time of purchase. This is perhaps the most valuable and initially overlooked accessory. And it can be had for $29 at time of initial purchase. -
Ya all my IBMs do this including the x60 I recently purchased. Its driving me nuts. The trackpoint constantly wanders off on its own. Removing the cover and reattaching it, restarting, doesn't work. It stops only for a little while if I push down hard on the trackpoint.
Anyone have a fix. -
