Im building a T61 series laptop.. and i just realized now that there is such an Optical drive...
but when i click the "help me decide" thing it doesn't tell me what it is.. I just know it makes my laptop cost 52 dollars less... with that kinda money i can make some other upgrades instead..
so can someone tell me what this is? how it'll look on the laptop etc?

I don't really understand what you are saying. Are you configuring a T61 on the Lenovo website? UltraBay Slim is an optical drive made for ThinkPads T6x's. It can be CD, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-RW, etc. It looks fine and normal as it should on a laptop. When you select one, it decreases your total price by $52? Please make it more clear.

what i meant was.. why is this one significantly cheaper than the other options i have...

    my options were:
Travel Bezel, Ultrabay Slim [subtract $52.50]
    DVD-ROM 8x Max, Ultrabay Slim [subtract $7.50]
CD-RW/DVD-ROM, Ultrabay Slim <--- Selected by default

What can the Travel Bezel do for me? only read CD ROMS?

The travel bezel occupies the UltraBay slot and can be used if you want to travel light and don't need an optical drive.

I understand what you are talking about now. The travel bezel is just an UltraBay slot filler. It doesn't read ROM's of any kind.

no it subtracts 52.00 off the price, since you are not getting an optical drive

    Correct.

And also to the OP'er, it's recommended to get the best stock optical drive you can configure since buying it aftermarket is about 100% more. I sure regret getting only CD-RW/DVD-ROM LOL!
