My T61's speakers volume is very low even when turned highest. I'd like to buy a set of separate speakers, preferrably travel size. Are there any recommendations for good-quality travel speakers? (and not too expensive) Appreciate it!

Hi, thank you very much for the recommendation! I just searched the web and found there are indeed many positive reviews about these speakers. May get them :)

For less than $40 you will get incredible sound from the JBL Creature II speakers: http://www.amazon.com/JBL-Creature-II-3-Piece-Powered/dp/B0001DQ5YG

If you don't necessarily have to have a high level of portability and you have a bigger budget, you will get even better sound from the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II: http://www.amazon.com/Soundsticks-I...8?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1191856259&sr=1-1

I have a friend that has the Creature II system. Considering the price and small footprint I was amazed at the sound. However, I plan on getting the Soundsticks II probably sometime around the holidays.

Eh, I have the v10 and while they are an improvement over the t60 speakers it is a hassle to set it up and I wasn't particularly impressed with the sound. There is some distortion at higher volumes.

The flip out stand is flimsy. It uses USB ports for power and sound source. Good that you don't have to carry around batteries or power supply. Bad that you won't be able to connect say an mp3 player to the speaker with a regular sound cable.

Also I had to go to sound device manager and specifically set the computer to use the v10 otherwise it would continue to use the notebook speakers. Sometimes I had to do this sometimes not.

I didn't play around with the mm28 too much but the sound was either on-par or little worse (less bass) compared to v10. It was thin, but much wider than I expected. Since it is a flipout design (like a makeup compact mirror) it is easy to set up or put away quickly.

The v10 comes with carrying case to store the speakers neatly. While it looks small, it is actually pretty bulky I think; it's hard to fit it in my laptop backpack with other stuff. The mm28 should be more portable and lighter.

the V10 can be bought refurb on ebay for 20 shipped.

mm28 can be bought for like 14 bucks shipped

or even less when it's discounted, check slickdeals.

I usually end up using a set of headphones myself though

I'd say go with the Logitech mm28. They're around $15 at Buy.com I have one myself (I used Google checkout, which means I paid $5 :p) and I think it's an unbeatable deal. Good sound too ;)

I own a T60. Ripped my favorite CD's on the harddisk of T60.
Before I went on holidsays, I purchased Logitech Z10:

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/speakers_audio/home_pc_speakers/devices/202&cl=us,en

Not really cheap (approx Euro 70 in The Netherlands), weighing more than you'll like, but the sound is absolutely EXCELLENT!!!

The Z10, connected to USB of T60, provided me and my husband superior sound of our favorite music (both classical, pop and jazz) during our stay in the hotelroom.
