Sometimes when I press the power button to put my T410 to sleep, the screen turns off but the system is still on, never going to sleep. I've put it in my backpack sometimes, thinking that it went to sleep, but then I find out it gets super hot because it's still on. I've had this happen to me with a previous Thinkpad model also. Is this a known problem for Thinkpads? If so, is there a fix for it? Thanks.

Have you try going into control panel and and clicking power option and go to choose what the power button do on your left hand side. If it said do nothing under power button, then that is the reason why it doesn't turn off.

Let me know if that work.

Look in Event Viewer's System Log (under computer management).

That may reveal any applications that are blocking the standy process.

That's not the issue. The button is set correctly, as it sleeps most of the time. Sometimes, however, it will just hang and be unresponsive, but still remain on.
