I ordered my T61 on 8/1 with an estimates ship date of the 15th. I logged in today and now the estimated ship date is 8/29, 5 days after I leave for college... I was looking around and it seems that for most people Lenovo, if anything, ships earlier than expected, not this much later.
Anyone else who ordered recently have their ship date pushed back?

Call the CS#, explain you need it BEFORE you go to college, see if they can upgrade shipping + expediate the handling

A fair amount of orders have been delayed and pushed back in terms of shipping time. The issue for many of us seems to be a 9-cell battery shortage. Personally, I ordered on 7/29 with an original ship date of 8/12. The delayed ship date is now 8/26.
I called customer support to see if they could expedite things, since my classes start on the 18th and laptops are required to be in classes, and he said he put in a 'critical' shipment request. Unfortunately, I still won't get it in time, but I suppose it's still something.

I've been postponed to a "shipping date" one month out from my order date. The CSR tells me "it's because it's a new model" (meaning that it's a T500 which was released recently). He says that he has seen substantial shipping delays whenever a new model comes out...
Hard to blame either your or my delay on the battery shortage - that happened so long ago.
I've been using a T60 for the last couple of years and I have no complaints. Seems to work perfectly. You are gonna love your T61.
Adrnshw6: If you return to this thread, can you give us the date you finally received your T61?
