Hey, I've been having some trouble getting the latest security update for Windows Vista. When I try to update, it starts, gets to 75%, and then stops. Then a window pops up saying that "Windows Module Installer" has stopped working and that windows will search for a solution and tell me if it finds one and all that jazz. I can't stop the installation process; it's stuck at 75%. I can't shutdown my computer because it tries to install during the shutdown process, and thus forces me to do the power-button-down-for-ten-seconds deal to shut down. Any ideas?

try system restore.. go back to a date when it still worked..

I actually noticed that it stopped working after I did a system restore. And to clarify, I have done 2 updates using Windows Update since then; it's only this particular one that won't install.

I personally don't update unless needed.

How do you know what's needed and what's not? The particular one I'm having trouble with is deemed "Important" by MS as a Vista Security Update.

When something is not working correctly, then I'll see if there is an update to fix it.

Ah. I suppose the "If it ain't broke, then don't fix it" motto works. Thanks!
