I have a T61 and I tried to install XP and make it dual boot from this site
Then I messed up the BCD(that I don't know what it is) can't even boot up the ThinkVantage.
On screen says Windows Boot Manager
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.
Any suggestion..![]()

How can I get the ThinkVantage back
I still have Vista partition on drive C and I can run XP on drive D, the thinkvantage is on drive F (I think) but something about the Boot file was lost.
So I can't boot the Vista and ThinkVantage thing.
Anyone know how to solve this? -
use the Vista anytime upgrade cd, it will say "windows is loading files"...when the selection page comes up choose "english...etc" then click next. the next screen is the install screen, but in the lower left corner there is an option to "Repair your Computer" select that and it should fix your bootloader to get into vista. Then go to lenovo.com and get the latest version of rescue and recovery and reinstall it over the old version (even if it was also the latest version) to repair the blue button functionality.
Hope you have the anytime upgrade dvd. If not you may have an emergency disk that can repair the bootloader, [may also be listed as mbr (master boot record)] You can download these repair tools if you have a second computer with internet access. -
Oh thanks!
I don't have the anytime upgrade dvd.
Where can I download that? -
What if I find someone that has a Vista disk.. will it work?
-
all vista anytime upgrade disks are the same. Try searching for an application to repair the master boot record if you cannot get the disk.

I talked to Lenovo and they will send me the recovery disk =\ on Wednesday 5pm.
but I have to fly on wednesday 5pm
so I have to do it myself then.

Yes.
Also when you boot and do not install, there is a system repair option. Try it.
I believe it may repair the BCD problem. Certainly there will be BCD command line utilities.
You also may be able to install Vista Boot manager from a dvd or UFD Drive in the VM that is running in which case you stand a better chanve to effect a repair. -
I got it work now!!
Thanks very much for every help -
What did you do to get it work?
-
Just borrowed an anytime upgrade disk from my friend and repair the BCD command-line.
After that, when I got to desktop and update the thinkvantage automatically.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
Try to install dual boot xp/vista and crash
