I am running just fine with the integrated but cannot figure out how to get the graphics card to work. I understand that the switchable graphics option is having some issues right now but is there any way to keep my computer set to discrete graphics so I can at least utilize my graphics card?

Although I dont have a T400 or 500, I understand that the way to change graphics is with sysgen, before the machine boots.

You can still run switchable graphics in Win7, with the only issue being that upon wakeup from sleep, both discrete and integrated graphics chipsets are active - you have to switch to discrete and switch back to integrated for the discrete chipset to turn off.

In the BIOS, you have the option to stick to integrated only or discrete only, if you like.

Thats good to here. How would I find out which version of the driver I have installed for the graphics card? I cant seem to find it.

I tried switching to discrete graphics in the bios and it booted into what looked like safe mode but looked to be fully functional.(I didnt keep it that way long. I rebooted and switched back to integrated.)

My guess would be that I have the wrong driver installed for my graphics card. Any way of checking which version I have installed and how would I get the working driver?

I'm not sure I had any driver installed and if I did I reinstalled it again. I installed the driver from the link and went into the BIOS and switched the graphics into switchable.

However, what I dont understand is that under display adapters in device manager it still says that the only adapter is "Mobile Intel(R)
    4 Series Express Chipset Family".

Also, my ATI icon in the the lower right, when I right click on it I have options for the Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family and the ATI Mobility Radeon 3400 Series. But there are two options of each making me think that I have installed the ATI software twice?

Well, i meant to change it to switchable and then installing the driver. But, nonetheless are you able to change to discrete graphics from the power manager icon? The ATi icon showing the GPU's twice is fine. The device manager will only display the intel gpu if you are on the IGP. But will display both when you are running the ATi grpahics.
