I ran Cinebenchmark and noticed my CPU never reaches a speed above 2.5 to 2.7 although it is supposed to reach up to 3.10 on Turbo....what gives?
I even tried running Throttle Stop but that didn't help....
I am using the default drivers that shipped with the notebook:
01-Intel Chipset Drivers v9.2.0.1021
02-Intel Rapid Storage Technology v11.0.0.1032
03-Intel Management Engine Interface v7.0.0.1144
04-Intel Onboard Graphics Driver v8.15.10.2462
05-nVIDIA Graphics Driver v296.10 (x64)
06-Realtek High Definition Audio Driver v6.0.1.6339
07-SRS Premium Sound v1.11.0200
08-Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet Driver v14.8.0.5
09-Intel Wireless WiFi Link 1000 Driver v14.1.1.3
10-JMicron JMB38X Flash Media Controller v1.0.55
11-Renesas USB 3.0 Driver v2.0.30.0
12-Broadcom Bluetooth Driver v6.4.0.2300
13-Synaptics Touchpad Driver v15.3.31.1

What CPU do you have? I think you're seeing is the difference between clock speed vs. the amount of cores that are being used. For example, the i5-3210 also goes up to 3.1 Ghz on one core. When using two cores, it can only go up to 2.9 Ghz. This might what you're seeing.

Lenovodude,
What's with the new handle? Why do you keep changing handles and posting questions that you already have the answer to? And I thought you already updated all your drivers to whatever you think the "current" ones should be.
Sorry, I just find it a little weird. It's as if you're up to something fishy. Or else you have an obsession with updated drivers and you need to constantly prove that we all have to update our drivers even though Lenovo hasn't released any updated ones, and to do this you pretend you're a newbie with troubles with the "stock" drivers. -
No dude I have a Intel Core i7 2670QM 2.20 GHz but it isn't going up to 3.10 GHz. in the benchmarks...

I finally discovered that the stock drivers that shipped with the Y570 were the best suited for it with the exception of the nVIDIA Driver but this CPU thing not going up to 3.10 in a CPU intensive benchmark is puzzling me
any thoughts man?
What do you get in Cinbenchmark CPU test and what driver are you using? -
I know, I was using the i5 as an example. The 3.1 GHz is only going to happen if one core is active. Your benchmarks are using more than one core, thus lowering your CPU to 2.5Ghz or 2.7Ghz. The CPU is running as fast it can for that scenario.

Ohhh now I get it!!!
Thanks a lot for the info man! You helped me solve this ridde!
