The thinkpad I'm looking at has a 3 year depot repair service as opposed to the onsite (which seems excessive for a consumer to have). I've heard horror story's about other companys, mainly compaq and hp, about horrible support and three month turn around times. any thin with a turn around time of more than 1 - 2 weeks is not acceptable to me mainly because im a student and will need it for class.

On the off chance that my thinkpad does break how does depot repair work? i assume i send it to them, but how long should I expect it to take? Any one have expirience?

You should really see times of 5-10 business days, depending on the issue and whether or not they have stock of the parts needed.
