Hey,
Sorry for all these questions but I was wondering how I could turn off the LCD screen? When I'm installing updates or encoding video etc, I like to leave the laptop on to do its stuff, turn off the LCD, and concentrate on other stuff. When the LCD is on, it gets a bit distracting. I know with my previous ASUS laptop I could just push Fn+display toggle and that would turn off the screen but I can't seem to find a way to do this on my T61? The best I can do is decrease the screen to minimum brightness...but the screen is still visible.
I guess the only workaround I can think of now is tell vista to not do anything if I close the lid of the laptop but then that would require me to push the hibernate/sleep button every single time I move from one room to another (as I do frequently in uni).
Any ideas?

Press Fn + F3. That should bring up the Choose Power Scheme menu. Look for Additional Power Controls subheading and click Power off display. While you are there, you can also click Fn +F3 Settings at the bottom of the menu to change the behavior of pressing Fn + F3. You can set it so that pressing Fn + F3 turns off the display instead of bringing up a menu.
These settings can also be accessed from ThinkVantage Power Manager.
P.S. Nice taste in username choice. -
lol seems like we think alike
I'm running into this other issue that's related. I set the power options scheme to have my default lcd brightness to be 29% even when plugged into the AC. WHY in the world does it keep setting the brightness to full everytime I log into windows. When I go back into the power options the slider is still at 29% for AC and that particular power profile is selected...I just don't understand. But unplugging and plugging the power back in fixes the problem and brightness is how much it should be....
