These are minor issues, but I want to air them out to see if there is something I am missing here....
1. Firewire.
It was my understanding from reading this review that firewire port was standard in all R60. It turns out, not for me. I ordered my R60 from the Lenovo site (CTO: Customized To Order version), and there wasn't any choice of selecting or deselecting IEEE 1394 port. So I just assumed that all R60 came with it. Apparently not. Mine certainly did not come with it. There is a squre plastic that is glued over where the port should be. What is your understanding about this? Is it something that I should have special ordered or did I get short changed? The fact that it did not come with firewire in the long run would not have made too much of a difference in my purchasing decision, but I would like to have known about it before making that decision. Now that I found out that I do not have what I expected to have, it is certainly not a very good feeling.
2. My laptop being warped???
When I first got it, the front right end leg of the laptop was a bit lifted off the table, and made it a bit wobbly and squeaky as I used it. So I thought I fixed it by putting a couple of layers of plastic tape on that leg. A few days later, it is once again slightly raised, creating the same wobble. It does not affect the performace, but it is distracting when I type on the laptop on a flat surface. Not exactly something I expected after hearing about the high "build quality" of the laptop. Or is this a usual problem and am I being too picky? I've had HP omnibook 500 for the last 7 years, and it never wobbled on me like this laptop does....

Mine has firewire and is CTO as well. Don't know what to tell you.
The quality on my R60 is excellent. Perhaps the foot is off somehow and Lenovo can remedy it. -
1. I called Lenovo this morning. The sales dept told me that my order did NOT include Firewire. The person on the phone said that it is NOT included in all R60. When I told him that there wasn't an option for me to select or deselect Firewire on Lenovo site when I was ordering it and there were others who received their R60 with firewire, the response was basically that if I had ordered a more expensive processor, firewire comes with it. I guess I got what I paid for. But I wished that the Lenovo people were more up front about what I was getting on their website. Even without the firewire, I am happy with the price.
2. The wobbly feet, I am not too happy about, but it isn't a big deal, and I "fixed" it with a few more layers of scotch tape on the feet. As long as it does not affect the performance or durability, I am ok with that....
Apart from my general rant and raving, I guess the important information that I can share with the members here is that FIREWIRE is NOT standard in ALL R60 machines. If you want it, talk to a live sales person and make sure it is included in your order.
Hope you guys all had a good holiday. -
If you are within the 21 day retrun policy you could send it back. I'm taking it you got the Celeron.

Hello ZaZ. No. I ordered and received Core 2 Duo (the cheapest one, though). Even then, firewire was not included, according to the sales person. I have no reason to doubt this or challenge this, as there was NO affirmative representation by Lenovo that all R60 include firewire port. Not that I am holding this against anyone or this forum, I guess I was led to believe that from reading the review I mentioned above. But the review was not from Lenovo, and the review was published long before the sale of R60 took place this year. I just saw what I wanted to see without checking and confirming the facts.
Lenovo's sales practice may also be suspect, even though I have no absolute evidence to that suspicion. But it is based upon the fact that in the past it appears that firewire was by default included in all R60 sales, but during the holiday sales, Lenovo may have taken that off as a standard feature, without explicitly saying that.
I went back to the Lenovo site and looked at the tech spec and it says "IEEE 1394 (select models)" without specifying which select models they are available in. Barring any affirmative representation by Lenovo that firewire is standard in ALL R60, I don't think there is whole lot that I can complain.
So if anyone is researching to buy R60, I just want to share my experience so that they can make decisions with fuller information than it is available through the Lenovo website. -
That sounds right because I have the lowest Core Duo the T2300 and it came with mine.
Two R60 issues ...
