so is there any price difference between the two system?

I would take the Core i5 system if costs the same.

if that is the case, then i would advise you to take the T410 instead. The i5 cpu will perform better than the P8800 CPU.

Also, the availability of the esata port and displayport on the T410 should make far more appealing to the T400, which is a fine machine by its own right.

Personally i like the display port implementation, as this allows me to run two external monitor without having the dock or the lenovo usb2dvi adapter.

    Dear lead Org,

I apprecaite your comments and suggestion, just one final ask:

How much difference could be between processors in performance row ?

One has 6MB and Other 4 Mb similar performance ?

    Thanks

the performance is not due to the L2 cache but the change in CPU architecture.

PassMark Intel vs AMD CPU Benchmarks - High End

    this a benchmark comparison chart.

i5 cpu can function as 4 cores with the hyperthreading technology, which is something that core 2 duo cpu lacks.

Option 1 is severely outdated and the CPU is not the easiest thing to upgrade whereas RAM and HDD upgrades can be done easily.

Yes, go for the i5. Newer architecture, more futureproof and energy efficient. The only Core2 CPU that I'd still prefer over the i-core is the QX9300 (with OC'ing unlocked in BIOS), but that's another story.

    i5, hands down.

Definitely the core i5 system. The T410 is a great laptop and will hold up well.
Plus the 4GB of ram is all you need, unless you do tasks that require more.

    Tabbook?

T410s is basically slimmer and lighter than the T410 hence the more expensive price tag.

If looking for a power machine, you want the T410, not the 410s. If you want thin and light (without going all the way to an x series) then you want the 410s.
