    1. Is it possible to get true DVI output from this laptop?

    2. What's the best way to upgrade the wireless? (currently it has the Intel 3945ABG)

I can answer the DVI question. In order to get digital video out you need one of the available docking stations. I use the Advanced Mini-dock which isn't too expensive and gives you both DVI and VGA outputs.

Check if there is a modified BIOS for the T60 if you want to upgrade the Wi-Fi card. Lenovo tends to put a whitelist that only lets it run a certain set of cards, even the newer set of Lenovo wireless cards may be blacklisted since it may not be registered on its database at the time. A modified BIOS with whitelist removal can bypass this problem.

If I recall T60's uses a Full Height Mini-PCI slot, I think the latest card that came in this format from Intel was the Intel 5100 which supported wireless N bands. I have this card in my T61 (upgraded from 3945ABG just like you) and it generally works fine on my system.

Hrm but can a T60p support a 5100? I thought Lenovo whitelisted cards within the same chipset basically, which a T60p is 945 chipset, so top card is the 3945ABG. T61 is 965 chipset so you should only be able to go up to a 4965 AGN. Of course you can always get the ThinkPad wifi, but I always find the connection is far weaker and driver support is rather grim.

I dont think chipset matters. It's all driver support, as long as you have the connection on the mother board.
