Does it have that flashlight thing on top, so in the dark you can turn it on and see your keyboard. Also does it have a built in mic.

Thanks, even though I added on a built in webcam on the top?

Where is the built in mic? I know it's got the flashlight, which is really useless because the screen gives off more light than the flashlight so it really serves no purpose.

The ThinkLight actually serves a useful purpose. The screen doesn't shine onto the keyboard as well as you think, especially when the screen is tilted back. And also, when one is in the dark, the screen brightness is more strainful to the eye because then it becomes too bright. So now you lower the brightness to save your eyes (will also save battery) and it is no longer illuminating the keyboard as much, that's where the ThinkLight comes in handy.

The built-in mic for my 14.1" T61 is located 1cm to the right of my touchpad's right button, directly above the headphone jack.

Ye, I actually just did and found out there is a mic. How do you get it to work? I tried recording through windows recorder and it did not work.

    UPDATE:
    Nevermind, I figured it out.

Agreed. I was really surprised at just how much it helps in the dark!

Wait... do all 14.1 thinkpads have the mic, or only ones with webcam.

i'm thinking i might just be better off to go with an R61 then... there doesn't seem to be any real difference other than that centrino thing that lets you gain control remotely or whatever... makes sense for a big organization with an it department but for me it just sounds like a liability heh

Well the only real difference is thickness and weight. Also, last time I checked, the webcam was only an option for 14" wide models with a WXGA display, so you don't get it with 15" models (including the T61p), 14" standard models (not available anymore anyway), or 14" wide models with the higher WXGA+ resolution.

No, only the 14.1 inch models you can order with a web-cam. The 15.4" T series you cannot order with a web-cam. There is however a Mic. on the 15.4 inch T model.
