Ugh, sorry for another thread on the subject, I just can't decide which notebook to get.I really like what I'm seeing with both the U150 and X200 and it's basically a tie between the two. For those that have seen both, can you comment on the screen quality/brightness between the two? Basically which ever is better is the one I'm getting. Although the X200 doesn't have HDMI, both are LED backlit, and are ultraportables, two things I'm looking for in a new notebook.
I can't decide.![]()

Maybe hang for the Lenovo X201i? QUoted at US$878 here. Website previously listed a 23rd of Feb release date, with an i3-2.13. Hope it comes with HDMI.

Yeah I was thinking about that, but not sure if I want to be without a computer for another couple weeks, I'm stuck using my roomie's until I can get a new one.

My thoughts are I would not get a single core CPU in 2010. The cheapest dual core U150 right now is the Celeron model I have going for $550 at Amazon. If you're willing to spend that much, I'd get the X200 from the Outlet unless the no trackpad is a deal-breaker like it is for me. It will offer you better quality and performance. It's not uncommon to see them in the $650 range in the outlet and my guess would be once the X201 gets closer to hitting the market, they'll drop lower. Good Luck.

X200 hands down. Build quality is excellent. The best I have ever experienced with any ultraportable and just as sturdy as any current ThinkPad. No keyboard flex. Best ultraportable I have owned - and I have owned many. Big improvement compared with former X-series. Very light, powerful, excellent thermal management, silent, long battery life, no nonsense, perfect keyboard, a ThinkPad.
Get it already -
if you could afford X200, then i would definitely recommend the X200 over the U150........

I don't see the U150 as bad. Overall, it's pretty good, but it's not as good as the X200. If it weren't for the no trackpad thing, I'd probably already have one.

Most likely not. They'll probably be much more expensive than the when they are released and I don't see spending that much for a second notebook. One of the reasons to get excited about the X200 is the ability to swap the screen for the AFFS screen. I'm guessing this won't be an option or very difficult on the X200 as the screen will be LED.

that is a bummer.... so why did you decide to purchase the ideapad U150? Personally i hate the silver paint, the hinge design and the keyboard of the U150...
-
A couple reasons - I love my R60, but it's too big for mobility and I from time to time need some. Second is cost. A X200 would end up costing me twice what the U150 did. It's hard justify spending that kind of money on a second notebook, when I can only use one at a time. I also got three desktops too. I think the U150 is pretty solid for the money. Could it be better? Of course. I'd agree the keyboard, but I'm not really picky on the keyboard. I like the design, but that's me. I think it'll serve me well for what I need it to do.

so how is this laptop in playing 720p movies?
-
I have some Blu-ray rips. They played just fine. It does have the 4500MHD, which can offload decoding.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I'm still deciding, but I'd like to order today.
Edit: I decided to order a U150.
U150 or X200?
