Thanks. I wasn't planning on buying one (UX31) but it's curious they are having WIFI issues like the Samsung Series 9.

My thoughts exactly. Luckily, the U300s has an Intel 1030 wireless card (per the ipbook.pdf).

Wow! You would think they would learn from the Samsung series 9 on the wifi issues!!!

That's not good. The whole point of these things is to make a laptop act as close to a tablet as possible. Instant on, instant connect, etc.

The only wifi issues I've had with my U300S was from a super slow connection at a hotel last week and I'm certain it was the hotel connection and not my laptop as others were having the same issue. Otherwise not a single complaint about wifi.

Fast connection, good speeds (haven't tested that yet but no streaming stutters or visible slowdowns that I've seen), connected fine to gogo inflight on a plane (two flights) and really haven't thought about it much. That means it's working!

    Jay,

Do the plastic hinges make a creaking noise?

No creaking at all for me. Someone had asked if I could hold the screen up and if there is any flopping of the screen if you hold it at different angles and I tried a bunch of angles and held the computer on it's side, at 45 & 90 degrees with no movement in the screen.

Also, regarding wifi - this thing has been rock solid. No wifi issues for me at all. I had a poor connection last week (as did everyone where I was connected) and had spotty response times but that was beng experienced by everyone and they all had the same behavior on their laptops - Dells, Apples, etc. I had no problems with a number of connections including gogo inflight on my plane rides.

    Hope that helps!

Looks like the U300s is being released in India today. ...Singapore a week or so ago. Maybe we're getting closer to an official US release. I haven't heard from Lenovo or ABT about the order I placed on the 9th. ...still hoping I get it soon! ...waiting is tough!

Good find. We all know that round 2 will come out next year, but this may suggest an 11 inch Lenovo to compete with the $999 MBA, (which is 11").

The next round having Ivy Bridge and maybe touchscreens is enticing, but I'm sure the 13" will still be expensive.

Digitimes Apple new MacBook Air series to compete with ultrabooks in 1Q12 reports more than one source that Apple is working on a 15" Air to be released in 2012... we can see what the Ultrabooks will have to follow next. For now, I'll just be happy for Lenovo to get the300s out the door!

Hey JayK, I've had mine for a couple of weeks now and have absolutely no issue with the 'f' key. Jsut opened up notepad and did a bunch of combos to double check and perfectly fine - feels the same as any other keypress too if that makes any difference.

Can confirm the rest of your observations, am getting 5-6 hours out of the battery on typical usage (vids, email, bt/wifi connected).
Am loving the laptop, it is fantastic to have such a lightweight lappy instead of my usual work "brick".

Had a small hiccup last night with the wifi dropping out for the first time, am hoping it is just my router needs a kick in the guts. Will test it further this arvo when I get home.

    cheers

Thanks Kirky! Sounds like my f key is a problem. No one else seems to be mentioning it. I appreciate you posting!

Enjoy your ultrabook- it's a great one!!
