U430p Six Partitions on Hard Drive

Why six partitions?
I get one (hidden) for backup, one for OS, maybe one for drivers. What are the other three for?

I guess I'm wondering if the hard disk were to completely fail (not just OS corruption), could I instal a new drive with just one partition and either do a clean install of OS (or restore from OS partition backup)? Would there be any Windows activation (or any other) issues?

Appears Windows 8 can use either a default (3 partition) or a system recovery (5 partition) configuration. Then Lenovo added the 6th containing drivers/software.

So if I were to do a clean install on a blank hard disk, I would be prompted to choose default or system recovery?
