While I don’t care too much about OS boot time, these 11 seconds from power on to desktop is quite impressive—and since they’re doing this with a T400, perhaps there’s hope that they’ll release this firmware for my machine…

My T400 takes about 1 minute to boot, most of time was driver and app-loading (about 45s). The only possible way to boot in 11s, IMO, is using a SSD. UEFI might greatly reduce BIOS loading time, but not that much. There's a video comparing boot time between SSD and HDD on T400, searching now...

It is using an SSD. Still though, fast.

You're thinking about it in terms of seconds. Think about it in terms of percentage. They took off ~30%. That's huge.

After watching both videos, I found that both UEFI and BIOS take about 5 seconds to load. The difference comes from Windows loading. That means you nearly gain nothing from boot time. UEFI might be better in the means of GUI, functions,... but not boot time.

? I count 10 seconds in the BIOS video from when he pushes the power button until it says starting windows, versus 5 seconds before the windows loading screen in the UEFI video.
