How long does UPS ground take to ship to the US? 3-5 Bus days sounds unreasonable
From Lenovo (china)
-
Unreasonable in what direction? Anyways, Lenovo calls it ground but it's actually UPS Expedited, which is normally 4-5 days from Asia to the US.
-
I would expect ground to be 7-10 days minimum How long was your shipping?
-
Standard UPS ground service is always 3-5 days for the lower 48. I don't know about from China though.
-
Lenovo just calls it ground because it's the slow UPS international shipping.
Mine hasn't arrived yet, but barring complications UPS Expedited is 4-5 days from Asia. Mine has an export scan date of 5/28 and a scheduled delivery date of 6/2. -
where does it have the scheduled delivery date?
-
shipping from china to the US takes the same amount of time no matter which method you choose. shipping speed is determined once it clears customs in the US. if you chose UPS ground, it will be shipped UPS ground from kentucky. depending on where you are in the lower 48, that can take anywhere from 1 to 4 days.
in total you're looking at about 2~3 days plus 1~4 days depending on your location. -
It'll show up on the tracking page approx. 1 day after the tracking goes active.
-
For mine it looks like it will take 7 business days. UPS picked up my laptop on 5/21 and today (5/27) I finally got an update with a delivery date of 6/2. So much for ground shipping, should have just spend extra $21 for 2 business day shipment.
-
hatboy - two-day shipping would have put your delivery on monday rather than wednesday. it most likely shipped on 5/22 from china, took three days to arrive, one to clear customs, and another four days to drive from kentucky to the northwest. that sounds about average.
-
Sometimes you get lucky. My UPS ground involved overnighting it on a plane after it made it to KY. I am in CA.
-
I never understand how people can have so little patience. This is probably going to be your laptop for the next three to five years. Does a couple days one way or the other make a big difference?
-
I thought that too, but the next post makes it seem like it is too SHORT of a period.
-
That's not the point. If you promise to deliver something in a particular timeline and you don't meet it, then that's bad business. If the delay was due to the weather and holiday then I'd understand.
-
I have a few laptops shipped from China before on 2 businesses days (always on time, so I would have received it on Wednesday 5/26) and Ground (actually took 5 business days); just this one time is taking long. Oh, did I mention one of the laptops I ordered for my work partner still on "billing information received" status since May 5th
I guess either Lenovo or UPS screw that up.
-
I think you missed my point. I got some news for you, the world ain't perfect and doesn't run in a linear fashion A to B to C. Accidents cause traffic jams, weather slows transit, people have a bad day at work, etc. Knowing this, why would a couple extra days, less than .1% you're going to have it if it's your notebook for the next three to five years, cause you to feel you've been slighted in some way? There's also is no promise to deliver. They're called shipping estimates, a fancy word for guess. You're getting a great new notebook. Look at the glass half full. It's a better way to live.
-
In the interest of full disclosure, they've taken the estimated delivery date off my tracking status and my laptop has a made a stop in Japan (which from what I've seen is not a normal stop).
-
I guess I got lucky. My laptop got shipped with UPS 2 day on 3/27, origin scan on 3/29 in HK, arrived here in NY on 3/30.
-
depends on the product: anything built to order and shipping from China takes the stated 10-14 days -- 3/4 days construction, 1/2 days shipping to US or Canada, 4 days customs and then 2/3 days ground UPS. Some shipments go to Kentucky, some US bound items still come through Canada as part of a larger shipment, In my experience, the shipping tracking number is issued once it leaves China but is not updated until the item clears customs.
If an item is in stock either in Kentucky (US) or Mississauga (Canada), shipment can be a lot quicker. But these are the exception not the rule. -
And to correct myself, looks like they put the estimated delivery date back up once it cleared customers (which is did today, same day it came in to KY) and it's the original 6/2 date.
-
Obviously UPS uses planes to bring stuff to the US, despite the "ground" moinker. Waiting for the Bering strait to freeze over again so a UPS truck could drive all the way from China would take wayyy too long
-
note the word in bold red. it's crucial in understanding jared's point.
