Sorry for my silly questions... Does anyone know how long is the shipping process if I choose the UPS Ground Ship? Is the laptop shipped by air (one week...) or by sea (one month...) to cross the Pacific Ocean from China to US? Thanks a lot...

Any idea... If that's too slow I think I still get opportunities to call Lenovo to change my delivery option to UPS 2 days shipping.

It really doesn't matter what shipping option you choose. You'll be waiting for Lenovo to build your laptop, which may take a few days to 2 months. It depends which laptop you ordered. After that, the shipping time are usually pretty quick.

If you are in the US: It will be shipped by plane from Hong Kong to the states, from there it will be sent UPS ground which usually takes a few days depending on how far away you are from KY or AK

Mine shipped "Ground", which when built in China translates to UPS Expedited. It shipped on Saturday and arrived on Thursday at 4:30pm. Folks that chose express had theirs shipped Saturday as well but had theirs Monday morning by 10:30am in most cases.

Thanks a lot. In addition, I think Lenovo is prepared this time for the 15.4" WSXGA+ so I am not gonna worry about the configuring time. Should be less than one week I think.

That's what I'm hoping! Otherwise it may be a photo finish between when my original WUXGA w/ WUSB order is supposed to ship! That will be a difficult decision when I'm staring at two Lenovo boxes and not sure if I want the 'easier on the eyes' WSXGA+ screen or the larger WUXGA w/ WUSB. But such are the tough decisions we must make. :)

I am myopic so I am sure WSXGA+ will be a pretty choice for me. And don't worry about WUSB cuz I think you can upgrade it by yourself. The link is here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2363905

2 day shipping is useless, when you pick the cheapest shipping option, you they will still send it express...can't use ground shipping on international orders.

But could they not just put that package on a truck once it lands in the US? Then depending whether you live close to their distribution hub you may take a few days for it to get to your location? I went with standard shipping when ordering my g/f's Dell cause their distribution hub on the west coast (not sure if it's different on the east) is Sparks, NV. To California from there is just 2 days so it works out pretty well that way.

For me it shipped on the 24th and came on the 30th. It took a while to get to Kentucky.

No, they don't. That's what I had thought too.

    2-day = Express = 1 to 3 business days, delivery by 10:30 or 12:00
Ground = Expedited = 2 to 5 business days, delivery by end of day

Check the UPS web site service guide.

Actually, they probably didn't scan it in Anchorage, AK...mine is also coming from Hong Kong, but it went to Alaska, and then the next destination is Ontario.

When I bought my T61 I went with the free shipping.

They shipped it on a Thursday from Hong Kong and I got it Friday morning, in California.

That tells you about how fast the 'ground' option is.

    ;)

No, it may have just stayed on the plane when it flew from Hong Kong to Anchorage, and wasn't transfered.

    My UPS locations scanned as:

    Hong Kong (departure).

    Ontario, California (Import scan).

    Oakland, California (transfer).

    Sequel, California (out for delivery).

Of course they were listed each several times (arrival/scan/departure), but that's the basic run down.

It seems UPS only imports international packages via Ontario and Louisville.

If you all can see... it depends on where you live. West Coast = fast, Midwest = relatively slow, etc.

Have it sent to your work, OR maybe arrange with UPS to pick it up from their nearest depot.

If you've already ordered it (and giving shipping info ect), then you'll want to have them hold it for you at the local Customer Center for pickup. They will not let you change where it gets shipped after its been ordered.

As others have suggested, just have to hold it at a UPS location...sometimes, these locations might be in obscure location.

Completely off topic:FYI, FedEx home delivery shipments are the best as you can miss thursday, friday delivery and have them retry on saturday when you are available (they don't ship on monday's though). However, if your shipment was scheduled to arrive on tues/wed then it might be a problem :(

Call the ups customer service # and give them the tracking # (or if they've attempted delivery, the # from that).
