So I ordered a X60 a couple weeks ago, and was waiting for delivery on May 15th. On the day of the delivery I noticed that my tracking number said that my computer had been delivered, obviously I had not recieved anything. I found out that the UPS driver had delivered my package to a random mall (not even in the same city I live in) instead of my residence. I had UPS put a tracer in and I have not heard anything as of yet. I contacted Lenovo and they told me that the tracking number shows that the package had been delivered and there is nothing more that they could do. Would this be the time to dispute this charge? I can't believe how incompetent UPS could be for randomly delivering other peoples packages to other addresses. I contacted the mall (which has 100+ stores with the same address, there was no suite number given on the address they delivered to) and they told me that they would contact me if they found the package (yeah right). I am pretty angry that such a huge mixup occured. I mean whats the point of a tracking number and signature confirmation if the UPS driver can deliver packages to anyone and everyone without even looking at the correct address and name.

Take it up with UPS like you've done but hopefully you placed the order with a credit card and can cancel the charge if worse comes to worse.
-
Make sure you get written records from UPS showing the wrong address, and also a bill or something showing your address (so you can prove it is different). Also, keep calling Levono as they're the ones screwing this up...
Did you ever hear of the address it was delivered to before this happened? -
Same thing happened to me once. Lenovo is the one that should be working to get your package to you.
Don't bother messing with UPS, they're stupid and their tracers take weeks. You need to contact Lenovo and tell them that you have not received the laptop that you paid for. Tell them that UPS mis-delivered it and they need to file a claim with UPS so you can get a refund or a replacement system sent out.
It is not your fault that Lenovo paid UPS to deliver the item and then UPS ****ed up. You shouldn't have to deal with UPS yourself. This is definitely Lenovo's problem to resolve. You're a paying customer without the product you paid for and then Lenovo wants nothing to do with it. Ridiculous.
Call Lenovo and if they try to claim the same crap, ask for a manager. If that doesn't work, ask for the corporate number. Just go up the food chain until you get satisfaction. -
you gave your address to Lenovo so its was there responsibility to ensure that UPS got the right address.

I called Lenovo and they said that I needed to file a claim with UPS. I told them that UPS would not allow me to file a claim since I was not the shipper, and that the Shipper (who paid UPS) would be the only people that could file a claim. Does anyone know if Lenovo gets extra insurance on packages? The lady at UPS told me that it was only insured for the minimum $100. I am just going to dispute the charge, that is probably the best way to go about this.
I am thinking the UPS driver could have very easily stolen the computer and "claimed" he delivered it to the wrong address. It just doesn't make sense for UPS to deliver the package more than 20 miles away from where I live. This coupled with the fact that it was a generic delivery address doesn't add up (2800 N. Main St which is the mainplace mall in Santa Ana). I hope this UPS driver gets fired regardless either for being a thief or being a dumbass. -
I complete agree with ImpactPlayer's suggestion and Lenovo should be the one to handle the situation. Just tell them you have not received the package and ask them what they want to do and dispute with you cc issuer since you have evidence. -
I had a similar situation though it was only for a hard drive. My particular case was with DHL, not UPS. It was delivered to an address a few blocks over. I called DHL, they went and retrieved the package the next day then delivered it to me. Thankfully the person who received it apparently gave it up without a fight. Perhaps it was just an honest mistake which I would assume everyone has done from time to time. What did Lenovo say when you told them only they had to file the claim?

I agree of what others have said, if Lenovo doesn't want to do that, contact their corpoate number...If that fails...Threaten to sue...
It works for me, it always grabs their attention...However...There are drawbacks...So I don't really encourage you to sue.lol
But seriously, as of what others have said, and I repeat myself again. Find out and contact Lenovo's corporate number. If that does fail, and they refuse to give you what you want. Then I really do suggest that you contact your lawyer. -
Don't contact a lawyer, just cease clearance on your credit card. They ask a few questions to make sure its a legitimate request and then they do it.
If you've PAID your bill then you're stupid...so I assume you haven't done anything daft like that.
It is always on the shipper and they should have insurance. UPS drivers do not typically steal - it's an investment in time to work for UPS, you cannot just walk up and be a driver...it takes months. They are a decent company to work for and I don't think anyone would really jeopardize that. It's a mistake somewhere, and it's probably Lenovo and it might be UPS....either way Lenovo shouldn't get settlement from your CC until this is worked out. -
Just do a chargeback and let Lenovo deal with getting their laptop back. Since the signature UPS has on file will not match yours that is all the proof you need. I would stop wasting your time trying to get that laptop, do the credit card chargeback and get your money back.
-
Lenovo should be doing their part in trying to find the mis shipped laptop. The fact that his original shipping address on the invoice is not where it wound up is proof the OP is right.
Call the CC company file a claim and let Lenovo deal with it. -

Thanks for the advice, I did a chargeback quick and painless. I am really bummed that I did not get my X60. Should I re-order one from Lenovo? or is there a vendor that allows you to get custom configured x60's?
-
I think there are several, although the only one that comes to mind at the moment is PCmall.com

UPDATE: I talked to Lenovo last week and they are goign to send me another X60 which is already enroute. The weird thing is today UPS came by my house and delivered my old X60 I guess they were able to track it down. Now what do I do? It seems Lenovo has written off the "lost" X60.
-
I would return one of them because now UPS has on record that you accepted the first X60 and if Lenovo looks into the issue later (and possibly your credit card company if you did a charge back), then it won't look good for you.
I know it seems tempting that you may somehow have scored a free X60 in a loop hole or something, but I wouldn't chance it myself. -
You know what to do, you don't need to ask.
UPS delivered my X60 to the wrong address what do I do?
