Hey guys! I have a T60 WS type 8744-5BU , and I have installed sisoftware sandra , and it shows that maximum installable memory is 2 gb, while lenovo website says that it's 4 gb.
Today is the last day of return period, so I would like to know wether or not they build my laptop on the wrong mainboard.
I would GREATLY appreciate if you guys who own a T60 ws install a trial version of sisoftware sandra and tell me how much it show. Pleeeeaaaaseee!!!!!!! I really need your help. I would be very very grateful

Most are 4gb, and if its 2gb, its due to BIOs restricting it.

    I'm assuming the t60 is 4gb.

I think lenovo even has an option to install 2GB ram sticks. Therefore the limit should be 4gigs.

I hope this isn't too late, but I recall that the most you can configure one from the Lenovo website with is 4GB; however, this drew a lot of complaints, as it is somehow (hardware issues I think) restricted to only being able to use 3GB maximum RAM in a T60, even if you have 4GB installed.

Windows XP 32bit is limited to 3GB of ram. I'm not sure how things work with Vista but I'd assume you can use 4Gigs.

Thank you for quick replies. I am sorry I wasn't clean enough, I didn't install any memory yet. Now my memory is 1gb, but I wanted to know the maximum capacity. And Sifoftware sandra shows that maximum capacity is only 2 gb. I mean is it correct? Or Lenovo messed the mainboards up

4gb is the max for t60 based laptops and you would need to install 2 2gb sticks of ram. Even so the Bios will only address about 3.5 GB due to restrictions in current hardware and software technology. Pretty much for all intensive purposes 3.5GB Ram is enough for all tasks LoL.
