I am having a problem with an ASIX AX88179 based USB 3.0 Ethernet Adapter. The particular one I use is Plugable USB3-E1000.

It works fine in the USB 2.0 port, but in the USB 3.0 port it works for a few minutes and then disconnects until I unplug it and plug it back in.

Can anybody recommend a USB 3.0 gigabit Ethernet adapter that works reliably under Windows 8.1 with Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro?

    Thank you.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately the adapter you recommended uses the same ASIX AX88179 chip-set as the adapter I already have. I agree, lots of positive reviews... Maybe I got a defective unit... But it works fine in the USB 2.0 port...

Anybody with a Yoga 2 Pro can confirm that an ASIX AX88179 based adapter is stable when plugged into the USB 3.0 port? The symptoms are very easy to reproduce--connection drops after a few minutes.

    Thanks

Although this is for USB2 I note that my Windows Update shows this optional update
ASIX - LAN - ASIX AX88772B USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter
    Update type: Optional

May be worth checking you have updated this ...

I use Diamond usb 3.0 ethernet adapter. I had the same issues if the computer ever went to sleep. Once I turned off power management for the device driver, all of that went away.

Okay, I received my adapter and have been using it most of the day without issue. No disconnects. No problem waking from sleep. Works in Windows 8.1 and Linux Mint-17. It's pretty awesome, really. 3-port USB 3.0 hub and Gigabit Ethernet in one device.

Only thing that would have made it perfect is a DC-in jack to use it as a powered hub if the need ever arises. Oh, and a shorter cable. Although I do prefer the removable cable on this one (there were several others with short, permanently attached cables).

If I run into any problems in the next few days I'll report back, but so far so good. I used it quite extensively today. Copied several gigabytes of data over the network. I also streamed a bunch of videos and listened to music from my server.
