Where can I get a cable to use with the USB power connector on the X40? You can see the connector described here, with the USB 2.0 port - http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/s...yle=ibm&lndocid=MIGR-53710&velxr-layout=print
I would like to use this port to power an external DVD burner. Which burner or casing should I use? Is there a drive/cable combo out there, perhaps from IBM/Lenovo? I have been looking at this $15 casing:

But I don't know if there's a cable that plugs into it as well as the usb power connector on the ThinkPad.

I have the exact same case for my T42. It works very well. It has two plug-ins in case one is not enough, but it works fine on mine with one. As for drives I would recommend the NEC 6670 over at NewEgg. NECs are the best laptop drives I have seen. Good Luck.

zazons,
Thanks for the advice. So it works without an external power supply on your T42?
What do you mean it has two plug-ins? Can it connect to two USB ports at a time if it can't draw enough power from just one? -
Yes it has two plugs. There a few laptops that don't have 5v going to the USB which is what it needs to work. It works fine on mine with one.
