This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     USB Speed Woes

    My T42 running Windows XP SP3 with latest drivers BIOS etc. randomly decided that my USB ports are not 2.0 capable so it's now operating at USB 1.0 speeds

    Anyone know how to fix this?

    On the device manager under USB controllers the section reads:

    Intel 8280 1DB/DBM USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller -24CD
    Intel 8280 1DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller -24C2
    Intel 8280 1DB/DBM USB Universal Host Controller -24C4
