I got my new T500 the other day and love the computer. But I'm using it with an Advanced Dock and am having some strange issues....

    * Fresh build of Vista Ultimate SP1 (on a 320gb WD Scorpio Black drive)
    * System Update with all the latest drivers
    * Everything operating perfectly, no anomalies other than this:

    1. I set the computer to sleep (standby.) It goes into it in a few seconds as normal.

    2. I push a key on my external USB keyboard to wake up the computer.

    3. It takes quite a while before I can use windows -- maybe 20 seconds. I get a black screen with a pointer. Eventually the desktop shows up.

    4. A bubble pops up saying "My device will perform faster if I plug it into a USB 2.0 port." Looking at the details, it is referring to the "Generic Hub" which is what it calls the USB connection inside the Advanced Dock that everything on it goes into. (All USB ports, card reader, Ultrabay, etc.) It's odd because even with that message, things are operating normally and at full speed. (I have a hard drive plugged into the dock and it copies files at 25mbytes/sec.)

    5. This is where it gets weird: If I reboot the computer now, when it comes back up, no USB devices on the dock will be working anymore. They don't show up at all in the device manager at all. A reboot will NOT fix this either. The only way to make it work is to press the undock button, remove the computer from the dock and reinsert it. Then everything is recognized properly. The USB is behaving just like it would if I had pushed the undock button... But I never did. Before hitting undock (to fix the problem) the little red circle was lit, saying not to remove the PC and the DVI port is enabled. Pressing undock switches the display back to internal LCD and gives you the green light to remove the laptop.

This problem is 100% repeatable. If I reboot (without going to sleep) then there is no issue at all. This only happens after I put the computer to sleep, then reboot.

    Ugh!

Anyone seen anything like this? I've googled around with no luck.

EDIT: I just put my computer to sleep, then worke it up with the power button (on the dock) and Windows resumed in like 2 seconds. I also didn't get an error about the "Performing Faster" ... so maybe that's the trick. I will repeat in the morning, and try rebooting to see if I still have the "missing usb" issue.

EDIT 2: That's the trick. Wake up the computer with the power button on the dock. That resolved all the problems... Near instant wakeup. No more missing devices. All is well!
