USB ports not working on T42

[ !]My T 42(only 2 weeks old)USB ports are not working properly. It will read my flash drive(Sandisk minicruz). If I connect my Treo to hotsync- it fails to recognize it. Also periodically I use a USB mouse which works on my Sony laptop but is not recognized by T 42. Never get message that "new hardware". Problem with USB ports or Hardware installation wizard?. When I click "add new hardware" I get message that it is already trying to add another device and keeps saying that for ever. IBM wants me to send it back but I need laptop for a trip soon.[V]

Has this always been this way? I would try to update the USB driver. Sounds like a hardware issue to me.

I know things, things that could get me killed

From the day I got it,USB ports never worked. I uninstalled them and re-installed. Got updated drivers - still no luck. I did all the trouble shooting -never worked. So now today, laptop is back to IBM for "repair"
