    Hi friends,

I have a T400 ThinkPad laptop and I am wondering if my laptop has a built-in short-circuit protection for its USB ports? I'm currently working in an electronics project and sometimes I have to connect my USB ports to electronics circuit board, therefore this question is important to me.

Thanks for reading my question. Any answer would be very appreciated.

    Regards,

Does the USB require a data connection or just power? If only power, try using a powered USB hub that requires a wall socket. If not, try those cellphone/ipod wall chargers.

If you require a data connection, I still recommend you using a USB Hub over your laptop, if you can, put a resettable fuse in the power/data connection on the USB hub.

    Hope this helped.
