I got the latest version of ubuntu on a T4XX.

It can't go into sleep mode. Everytime it just keeps on trying forever with the flashing moon. I have to hard reset.

Can anyone tell me how to fix this? I have a suspicion it is the graphics drive perhaps? No clue really...

You gotta post more specs. What "T4xx" model exactly? How to you put it into sleep mode? And what sleep mode anyway? What ubuntu/kernel version? What GPU drivers?

Also, did you check ThinkWiki and/or ubuntu forums?

sleep works fine on 9.04 64bit on my t500. i just press fn+sleep. I use drivers from ati's website, you should use them if you don't already.

I would recommend posting under Ubuntu forums (beginners or hardware section). I suspect it has to do with the 'ibm thinkpad' patch that you may have to install. Also check out the thinkwiki site as suggested.

completely agree. Try to put your questions on specialized forums.
Personally I have the same problem but on my Panasonic Y7.
It has worked on Ubuntu 8.10, but it doesn't work on 9.04/9.10. Resolving sleeping problem (in mots cases it relates to ACPI) in Linux is one of the most tricky problem (this is long history about Microsoft influence to ACPI specification and open source community). I have spent many many hours trying to figure out the cause and still have no idea. The only solution I have used as workaround is Tux implementation. But it is not easy (you have path you kernel, configure it, compile kernel and install your new kernel).

    Good luck.
