Right now, everything in dual-boot works except the speakers make these loud popping noises on shutdown, and i haven't found a way to disable this.

do i need to enable the legacy boot or let it with UEFI?

i also want to try install ubuntu into my y410p,but i look the step for dual boot looks complicated compared to virtualization...

Actually, installing Ubuntu along with Windows 8 it isn't as hard as it seems. What I did was install Ubuntu on to a USB through this:
Universal USB Installer for Linux
I restarted my laptop and when it displayed "lenovo" I pressed F2 to get the BIOS to pop up. Then, I changed the boot order to boot from my USB first. After that, I chose to install alongside Windows 8.
Unfortunately, I also get the loud cracking noise whenever I shut down or restart. It sounds like it will blow up my speakers. None of the solutions I looked at worked for me. -
