Right now, everything in dual-boot works except the speakers make these loud popping noises on shutdown, and i haven't found a way to disable this.

Idk, i just installed Linux to the 24GB SSD in legacy mode, in fact, i don't even use UEFI, since W7 is my main OS.

Actually, installing Ubuntu along with Windows 8 it isn't as hard as it seems. What I did was install Ubuntu on to a USB through this:
    Universal USB Installer for Linux
I restarted my laptop and when it displayed "lenovo" I pressed F2 to get the BIOS to pop up. Then, I changed the boot order to boot from my USB first. After that, I chose to install alongside Windows 8.

Unfortunately, I also get the loud cracking noise whenever I shut down or restart. It sounds like it will blow up my speakers. None of the solutions I looked at worked for me.

Blacklist the snd-hda-intel module, it will remove the crackling noise but will also disable your sound. Am currently working on a fix.
