I just noticed my X200t has a nick on the top right corner. My R60s did not have this problem because of the ABS plastic. I didn't drop it and it hasn't left the house too often. It's nothing to speak of really, but it's no longer perfect. I think I will just go in the corner and .

The nick might have been there for a long time but you never had a chance to notice it -- until very recently.

During the holiday break, I rearranged my office and moved my T510, which is in mint condition and usually sits on the desk, to another position near the window. I noticed a minor ding to the right speaker cover. How did that happen? Only by pressing a pen on it does one leave such a mark! A bit of light from the window shining at an angle makes the ding painfully visible. Oh well... :(

A real ThinkPad must have usage scars - otherwise it is just a poser :D

It's not a nick, it's a warrior wound... or a battle scar and probably has a adventurous story behind it. :)

Hey! I can be a drama queen if I want to. I suppose with my three years of accidental, ooh did I say that, I could ask Lenovo to replace it, but it's hardly worth the effort.

lol... just givin' you slack. :p

i tend to use my blemished thinkpads more than my perfect ones.   as soon as one shows that first sign of use, it's easier to justify using it more and adding to the patina.

Woodrick was passed along to a fellow forum member, at a very reasonable price I might add. I've not heard anything in the few months since he left. I assume he's doing well.

My condolences, that sucks, you must have done it without remembering on one of those heavy drinking nights...

My one year old son loves to bash my T410s keyboard and slam the lid shut and yet no detectable blemishes have shown up yet, I'm amazed and feel quite lucky. The reason I even allow it is because it keeps him out of other kinds of potentially damaging trouble for a period of five minutes or so.

See, if I had kids I would have a designated computer room, and keep it locked. I know how curious kids can be. :D

My X41 has nicks, scratches, and plastic missing from the fan grille. My T22 is in about the same shape, along with some major pieces of the screen bezel sporting cracks, or simply not present. My 560x is missing an entire corner, 40% (Roughly) of its screws, and the frame flexes so much that I can shut off the unit by twisting it.

All three still work fine, and I'm preparing to go to work on giving the same treatment to my new X201 when it arrives. :D

Sold a brand new X200 to my friend with two boys (1.5yrs and 4yrs at that time). He wanted a sturdy ultraportable, as the kids would be playing around with it as well. Almost 3 years later, it hardly has a scratch. Though it usually gets quite dirty with stains from the kids :) But after a quick wipe down, it almost looks as good as new. Very impressive considering the hammering on the keyboard, slamming of the lid and finger pointing at the screen.

I'd probably go crazy if I had to watch my kids abuse my new thinkpad. Instead of sharing my thinkpad, I'd probably throw them a bone in the form of a used R60/T60.
