This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    From everywhere in this thread, I've heard that the word commodity is bad and I agree. Yet, when you look at price before you look at the computing or even as you look at computing "commodity" is exactly what you have.

    I am against the commoditization of computing. And that's exactly what we has have. We consider price as being high on the list and THIS is what you get.

    From my experience at school, most people are curious of the ThinkPad look. The most common reaction is "That looks like an old computer," or "That looks like a computer from the 90s." People are more inquisitive than insulting because the ThinkPad look is not ugly, it's a retro look that they aren't used to seeing in today's computers.

    I like the Thinkpad look a lot. Matte black is plain classy, and I like how Thinkpads have bright color accents to go with it (yellow power plug, red trackpoint, etc.)
