I'm using XP + sp3 and when I open the lid to wake from sleep, my eraser head doesn't work correctly. I keep the UltraNav icon in the bottom right and it tells me that the drivers are not installed. After reboot everything is back to normal.
Anyone have ideas why this happens?

I had the same problem (T61p/XP SP2), solution is to reinstall UltraNav Drivers. Works at least until now.
